Bruce Wallace
Bruce has had a full career as a professional musician. He’s called upon because of his ability as a consummate side-man and also because he can deliver that ‘just perfect’ solo. Fellow musicians love that they can rely on Bruce’s skill and ability to put down the perfect beat. In addition to his performance skills, Bruce has maintained a working bass shop both in Pittsburgh and Sarasota. Early on, he served as the sound engineer and producer on several projects for Fat Chance Recording in Los Angeles including rehearsals for the group Chicago. He has played on many jingles and demo recordings for various artists, and more recently he co-produced and performed in a Jazz CD entitled “Soiree”. Bruce is still playing while concentrating on the repair and sales of the upright bass.
Bruce was born in Pittsburgh, studied trombone with Matty Shriner, and attended Duquesne University majoring in trombone and minoring in bass.. Because of Bruce’s skill at reading, his knowledge of a vast number of tunes, his feel for all styles, and his improvisational prowess, he has been able to play for and accompany various artists and orchestras, some of which are listed below.
